You don’t have to have super long hair to rock some cute braid hairstyles. In fact, you can have all kinds of hair because braids can be worn in a variety of ways. We’re revealing some of our favorites.
Types of Braids
Over the centuries, humans have invented many methods of braiding hair. All of these weaving techniques have their own names, and you’ve probably seen most of them but didn’t know they had a specific name.
These techniques vary depending on the region of the world you are in, and also vary by hair type. For example, curly hair is braided differently than straight hair. Also, certain braid styles are better suited to specific buns, and so on. At the same time, it’s all very complex and beautiful.
Here are a few types of braids you can try:
- french braid
- dutch braid
- fishtail braid
- braid braid
- Rope
- lace weave
- plaid weave
- ladder weave
- single braid
- multiple braids
- crochet braid
Most of these are hard to make on your own hair, at least without a lot of practice, so you might as well start trying them on your friends.
